Thanks for sharing your thoughts on ncomputing's x550. Our school decided to go for miniframe's softxpand over ncomputing x550 for a few reasons. Firstly, it meant we could choose any number of stations per host and didn't have to always go for 5. Secondly, students can run graphics applications, sound, etc - we haven't really noticed any difference between softxpand and a standard PC with regards to performance. Students can even plug in their own flash drive. Thirdly, since softxpand is software-only with no little box, the solution reached our school impreccably quickly in about 2 seconds (over the internet)!

Andrew
You will ahve found many functionality problems with difficulty calibrating and tracking.

We have written a comprehensive manual to setting up the Wiimote IWB including IR-Pen sellers.
http://www.boonjin.com/smoothboard/

We have also rewritten Johhny's demo code to include:
- Visual calibration assistant
- Smoothing for clean digital writing
- Tones of teacher focused functionality

I suggest you have a read and give it a go, you will find it is a realistic IWB.

I also suggest you use one of pressure sensitive IR-Pens from http://www.irpensonline.com for a real IWB expereince.

Or join the discussion at http://www.wiimoteproject.com

yes kind of,
in ms07 publisher and web expressions do not have a ribbon.
not that i would ever use publisher.
i would use web expressions and i installed it because i was looking forward toward to the ribbon but it doesn't have one.
so i went looking for one and didn't find anything.

Hi Alec, thanks for the comment.
Adding the Office 2003 style menu structure to Office 2007 would be done purely for convenience. There are many users out there that were initially overwhelmed at the major revamp of the menu structure in Office 2007. So, having the Office 2003 menu as well would act as a fallback for them while they became familiar and found their way around the new menu structure.

Do you mean software to covert an applications menu layout to a ribbon style layout? I have had a (quick) look and have only found software which will allow you to do this for an applications that you are writing. I like the idea and I will investigate further...

my question is why.
wouldn't a plugin to add the ribbon to applications like web expressions or publisher be more useful?
